Gas Fireplace
Accessories
You should look for gas fireplace
accessories even before winter sets in. This way, you
can make sure that you have an attractive centerpiece in your
home before accessory prices increase. By winter, you’ll surely
have a fireplace that will be the envy of your guests. Here are
five accessories you shouldn’t miss out on.
Gas Logs
Gas logs are almost always on top of gas
fireplace parts lists. Although gas logs do not crackle and
some don’t release yellow flames, they are a valuable addition
because of the impression that they make. Somehow, gas logs
communicate the same warm feeling and comfort that traditional
wood produces.
Gas logs can be vented or unvented. Vented
logs are less energy efficient than unvented ones because they
release part of the heat produced through a top or side vent.
Even so, some consider vented logs to be safer than unvented
counterparts because they provide sure security against gas
poisoning. Some unvented logs are also less appealing because
they may emit blue instead of yellow flames.
Andirons and Grates
These are beautiful pieces that stand at the
center of the firebox. Grates and andirons often have holders
that hold up the logs. Their decorative legs and side designs
lend character and appeal to any gas fireplace. Gas logs
however come in many different shapes and sizes. If you want to
place them on a holder, make sure they match the holder
size.
Keep in mind too that andirons and grates
should be used properly. They should stand far from the firebox
walls and should not be moved while the fireplace is in
use.
Screens
Among the most visually appealing gas
fireplace accessories are screens. Obviously, these are meant
to enhance the visual appeal of your fireplace rather than
contribute to its functions. Screens can be large or small and
can come in a variety of finishes. These include copper,
chrome, iron, steel and pewter. Designs too can range from
plain grill types to intricate loops and twirls. Some companies
accept custom made grills that will fit your fireplace and the
theme of your room perfectly.
Remote Controls
Temperature controls are a must in every gas
fireplace. Remote controls however are an optional feature that
can add to the convenience of having a gas fireplace. The basic
function of a fireplace remote can help you truly sit back and
relax while enjoying the ideal room temperature. Some remote
controls allow timers for automatic fire shut off.
Decorative Linings
Fireplaces no longer need to be made of
bricks. Because gas is now the preferred fireplace fuel,
fireplaces can take on entirely contemporary looks. If you
prefer traditional designs and appearances though, you can
always put up brick linings that look like the real,
traditional brick facades and back walls.
There can be many other gas fireplace
accessories. These however are the most basic that you should
consider first. Just remember that before you accessorize, you
have to make sure that all the essential parts and elements of
your gas fireplace are in place first.
